Terms
Terms of Use
These terms are an agreement between you and Verneri Marjala, the maker of Norppa. By using Norppa you agree to them. We have tried to keep them short and clear.
About these terms
These terms apply together with Apple's Licensed Application End User License Agreement, which gives you the licence to use the app. If they conflict, these terms apply where the law allows. How we handle personal data is explained in the Privacy Policy.
What Norppa is, and isn't
Norppa helps you think for yourself before you use AI. It shows a short pause when you open the apps you chose to block, keeps track of your streak and lets you compare weekly points with friends.
- It is not medical or psychological help. If you are worried about your wellbeing, talk to a professional.
- Blocking depends on Apple's Screen Time. iOS decides when blocking runs, and it can sometimes fail or be delayed. You can always turn blocking off in iPhone Settings.
- Norppa can't see AI answers inside other apps or websites, such as AI answers in Google search.
- The lake is a metaphor, not a measurement. Norppa doesn't measure how much water or energy you save.
Who can use Norppa
If you are under 13, you need your parent's or guardian's permission to use Norppa. If the law where you live sets a higher age for this, that age applies.
Your account
Norppa creates an account for you automatically. It is tied to the app on your phone. For now, we can't move your account to a new phone or restore it if you delete the app. Please use one account per person.
Community rules
Other people see your display name, and crew members see the crew's name. We have zero tolerance for objectionable content and abusive users. Names and crew names must not:
- be hateful, discriminatory, harassing, bullying or threatening,
- be sexual, violent or otherwise offensive,
- pretend to be someone else, such as another user, a creator or a company,
- include anyone's personal details, such as a phone number or address,
- advertise, spam or break the law or anyone's rights.
You also must not cheat the leaderboards (for example with modified apps, scripts or extra accounts), try to access other people's data, or disrupt or overload the service.
Reporting and enforcement
If you see a name that breaks these rules, report it in the app (tap the person in the leaderboard → Report, or Report crew name in the crew) or email verneri@norppa.app. We review reports within 24 hours.
If something breaks the rules, we may change or remove the name, remove the user from crews, reset points, or suspend or delete the account. You can also remove a friend or leave a crew at any time, and block a user (tap the person → Block) so that you no longer see each other on leaderboards and they can't add you as a friend.
Streaks, points and leaderboards
Points come from your own choices in the app, so leaderboards are based on trust. Weekly leaderboards reset every Monday. Points, streaks, rain days and lake treasures have no money value and can't be exchanged or transferred. We may correct points that come from errors or cheating.
Subscription and free trial
Using Norppa requires a subscription. You can choose a monthly or a yearly subscription. The app always shows the current price before you subscribe.
- Payment is charged to your Apple ID when you confirm the purchase.
- The subscription renews automatically unless you cancel it at least 24 hours before the end of the current period. Your Apple ID is charged for the renewal within 24 hours before the period ends.
- You can manage and cancel it in iPhone Settings → [your name] → Subscriptions. Deleting the app does not cancel it.
- Free trial: the yearly subscription starts with a 7-day free trial. If you don't cancel at least 24 hours before the trial ends, the subscription starts and your Apple ID is charged. If you buy another subscription during the trial, the unused part of the trial ends.
- If your subscription ends, Norppa's features and blocking stop working until you subscribe again. Your account and friends stay.
- Apple handles payments and refunds under Apple's terms. You can request a refund at reportaproblem.apple.com.
Rights to Norppa
Norppa, its name, the Norppa character, the art and the app belong to Verneri Marjala. You keep the rights to the names you type in, and you allow us to show them to other users as needed to run Norppa.
Changes to Norppa and these terms
Norppa is a growing app. We may add, change or remove features, and we don't promise that it will always be available without interruptions. If we change these terms in an important way, we tell you in the app before the change takes effect. If you don't agree, you can stop using Norppa and delete your account.
Liability
We build Norppa carefully, but it is provided as it is. To the extent the law allows, we are not responsible for indirect losses, or for losses caused by iOS, Apple's services or your internet connection. Nothing in these terms limits your mandatory rights as a consumer, or our liability where the law doesn't allow it to be limited.
Ending
You can stop using Norppa at any time and delete your account in Settings → Delete account and data. We may suspend or close an account that seriously or repeatedly breaks these terms.
Law and disputes
These terms are governed by the laws of Finland. If you are a consumer, you also keep the protection of the mandatory laws of the country where you live. If something goes wrong, please contact us first and we'll try to fix it. Consumers in Finland can also bring a dispute to the Consumer Disputes Board (kuluttajariita.fi). You can always take a dispute to a court.
Apple
These terms are between you and us, not Apple. Apple is not responsible for Norppa or its content and has no obligation to provide support for it. Apple and its subsidiaries are third-party beneficiaries of these terms and may enforce them.
